Historical Unemployment Insurance Opportunity Reports

The American Institute for Full Employment has embarked upon a long-term effort to measure the success of unemployment insurance programs on a nationwide basis.

The Institute has prepared state reports that compare each state to the best five performing states in several key categories. Each report highlights in practical terms, the impact of the state umemployment insurance policies on employees, employers, and the state economy.

The measures we have included are not perfect and no one measure will tell the complete story. However, when taken together, they present a fair picture of potential concerns and opportunities for improvement.

2020 – 2022 Reports

Due to the wild fluctuations driven by pandemic UI, we have paused our reports on duration and exhaustion and other measures until the 12 month trailing data is beyond the large effects of the pandemic benefits and better reflects the reemployment opportunities and efforts of state agencies.
